My name is Patricia Brezny.
I'm the mom of a crazy 5th grader, (or the crazy mom of a 5th grader) and the Wiley PTA Go Green Committee Chairperson. This is my third year running the Go Green club.
I have a Masters of Architecture and have practiced architecture for over 13 years, add to that a busy mom and volunteer. I volunteer for the Green Schools Committee of the NC Chapter of the US Green Building Council, the Capital City Girls Choir, and Wiley Elementary. I am a LEED Accredited Professional for Building Design and Construction, and I have been passionate about sustainability and sustainable design for over 26 years.
Over the past five years at Wiley I have volunteered for field trips, in the media center, at Gardens and Grounds events, and doing tutoring. In 2012 I organized volunteers to plant 25 donated ground-cover shrubs on the hill outside the fence near the K-2 playground to help control erosion. In 2013 I became the PTA Go Green Chairperson and organized 40+ volunteers in a Classroom Clean-up where we washed tables and chairs, dusted, vacuumed and scrubbed baseboards. In 2014 I started the Go Green Club, free for students who wanted to help make their school a better place and become sustainability leaders in their community.
This year I am excited to get more children involved in the Greening of Wiley Elementary School, and to share my passion for sustainability.
